Gerasymenko Sergii Ivanovych

Author of over 250 scientific works including 10 monographs, 15 inventions and patents.

Gerasymenko Sergii Ivanovych – chief of the department of Joint Diseases in Adults of the SI «The Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics by NAMS of Ukraine» (ex- Republic Center of Joint Replacement), Doc.hab.med, professor, honor doctor of Ukraine. In year 1975 he graduated from O.O. Bogomolets Institute of Kyiv and was distributed to Kyiv Research and Development Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics. Here he passed his way from ordinary doctor and to professor, chief of department of joint diseases in adults, deputy director in charge of scientific and medical work of the SI “The Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics by NAMS of Ukraine”. His experience in science and teaching exceeds 35 years.

He is a supervisor of many scientific researches, a member of editor’s board of a journal “The Messenger of Orthopedics, Trauma Care and Joint Replacement”, a member of scientific council of the SI “The Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics by NAMS of Ukraine”, a member of specialized scientific council for presentation of PhD and MD researches by the SI “The Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics by NAMS of Ukraine”, presidia member of the Board of the Association of Orthopedic Surgeons and Traumatologists of Ukraine, presidia member of the Board of the Association of Rheumatologists of Ukraine, a member of International society of surgeons-orthopedists-traumatologists (SICOT), a member of American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS).

He is the author of over 250 scientific works, among them 10 monographs, 15 inventions and patents.

Main focuses of scientific and practical activities of Mr. Gerasymenko are: diagnostics and treatment of different diseases and injuries of locomotion system, among them:

  • osteoarthrosis of big joints;
  • rheumatoid arthritis;
  • rheumatoid spondylitis;
  • trauma injuries of locomotion system and consequences thereof.

Experience – thousands of joint replacement operations

He personally has performed thousands of operations – replacement of hip, knee, elbow and shoulder joints, different surgical operations of knee and other joints, in 99% - with excellent and good results.

To improve theoretical knowledge and practical skills he visits orthopedic clinics in Germany, UK, France, and Czech Republic.

He supervised and prepared a range doctors to obtaining scientific grades of Ph.D. and Doc.hab.med; among them there already are even professors.

For many years he used to be Senior orthopedist-traumatologist of the Healthcare Ministry of Ukraine.

Among his awards there are: merit certificate by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, merit certificate by Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, honorary degree “Honor Doctor of Ukraine”, honor sign “Standout in Healthcare of USSR”, in year 2005 – laureate of H.H. Reckeweg International award in Medicine.
