In 1997, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the National Medical University of Lviv.
In 1997-1999, he completed internship training in orthopaedics and traumatology.
In 1999 – 2001, he passed his residency training in orthopaedics and traumatology at the SI "The Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, NAMS of Ukraine".
From 2001 to 2019, he worked as a junior scientific fellow at the Department of Joint Diseases in Children and Adolescents of the SI “The Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, NAMS of Ukraine”.
From February 2019 to July 2022, he was the senior scientific fellow at the same department.
Since August 2022, he has been working as the Deputy Chief Physician of the SI "ITO NAMSU" for organizational and clinical affairs.
M.V. Melnyk has a degree of PhD, having defended his research in traumatology and orthopaedics "Recovery of Knee Functioning in Patients with Infantile Cerebral Palsy", PhD diploma DK No. 045184, issued by the resolution of the Highest Attesting Commission of Ukraine on March 12, 2008, minutes No. 7-09/3.
M.V. Melnyk has the highest qualification category in Orthopedics and Traumatology and Pediatric Orthopedic and Traumatology.
He is an author of 60 scientific publications (1 of them – in Scopus sources), a co-author of 12 innovations and 4 patents. Many times, he spoke at meetings of regional associations of orthopaedic and trauma surgeons, international conferences and symposiums in Ukraine.

Melnyk has large practical expertise in the diagnostic and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders in children and adolescents: congenital luxation, hip dysplasia, Perthes disease, juvenile hip had epiphysiolysis, club foot, wryneck, orthopedics-associated manifestations of the infantile cerebral palsy, and other congenital and acquired deformities of lower and upper limbs. He consults and carries out conservative and surgical treatment of children with the said disorder. He masters hip and knee arthroscopy.
