Arthroscopy of joints

Arthroscopy (literally – visual examination of a joint) is a modern type of operation, performed by an arthroscope – a kind of endoscope intended for joints. For arthroscopic operations only tiny cuts or punctures are required. The clinic performs arthroscopy of knee, hip, shoulder, elbow and ankle joints.

This method ensures minimum damage of joint surrounding. The image of work area, magnified by arthroscope, enables doctor to see joint functioning disorders, undefinable for open surgery, and, in turn, to make more accurate diagnosis.

Moreover, compared to traditional open surgery, arthroscopy decreases possibility of infectious contamination of the joint’s cavity.

Arthroscopy decreases damage to the patient’s body. Traces of surgical intervention remained on skin are almost invisible. There will be no big surgical scars after soft tissues healing.
