Chief of the Department for Microsurgery and Reconstructive-Recovery Surgery of Upper Limb

In year 1982 he graduated from Kyiv Medical Institute with the profession “General Medicine”. Since 1982 he works in the department of microsurgery and reconstructive surgery of upper limb. In year 1991 he presented candidate research “Prevention, Diagnostics and Treatment of Ischemic Contracture of Upper Limb”. From 1991 to 1997 we held the position of senior scientific associate of the abovementioned clinic.

Since 1997 and to the present time he heads the Department for Microsurgery and Reconstructive Surgery of Upper Limb.

In year 1999 he presented dissertation “Orthopedic Treatment of Patients with Trauma of Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerves of Upper Limb”.

In year 2001 he received the grade of professor. Since 2003 and to the present time he occupies the position of Deputy Director of the Institute in charge of scientific work.

In year 2009 he received the grade of honor worker of science and technique of Ukraine. In year 2011 – became the laureate of the State Award of Ukraine in the sphere of Science and Technique.

Many times he studied abroad (In Poland, the UK, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, the USA) to improve his knowledge and skills in the sphere of orthopedic treatment of patients with disorders of upper limb, metal Osteosynthesis, shoulder and elbow joint replacement.

S.S. Strafun is an active social position. He is the Vice-President of the Association of Orthopedists-Traumatologists of Ukraine, Senior Extraordinary expert of the Healthcare Ministry of Ukraine, Senior Extraordinary Orthopedist-Traumatologist of the Healthcare Ministry of Ukraine, national representative of Ukraine in International Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (SICOT), member of International Society of Less-Invasive and Arthroscopic Surgery (ISACOS).

He is the author of over 250 scientific works, patents, books, manuals, methodic recommendations.
